Go behind the scenes of some of the most fascinating movies and television series as you discover a number of filming locations in the beautiful landscape of Dumfries & Galloway.

The breathtaking scenery of this region has been inspiring artists and writers for hundreds of years, so it’s no wonder that it has been noticed and selected by filmmakers and television producers for use in some amazing productions.

Make sure you see them all and download the great Movie Map which shows you all the spots and buildings used on the big screen. Visit the historic locations used in The 39 Steps, wander around the streets of Moniaive as you spot familiar buildings used in The Magdalene Sisters or follow The Wicker Man trail.

Visits to Portpatrick and Port Logan are a must. These beautiful harbour towns, nestled on the west coast of the region, were used as locations in the popular BBC series 2000 Acres of Sky.

For the action adventure fans, take a train ride from Dumfries to Annan and you'll be on one of the sets from Mission Impossible.

Drive high into the Lowther Hills in the north of the region and explore Wanlockhead, Scotland’s highest village and location of the fictional Scottish village Hope Springs from the popular BBC comedy drama series of the same name.
