As a UNESCO City of Music, Glasgow is one of the leading lights of the country’s contemporary music scene, with over 130 events taking place throughout the city each week. There is everything from large scale arena tours in the SECC to the restored O2 Academy art deco theatre, and the intimate musical experience of King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, one of the best small gig venues in the world. Many leading bands and artists start out there, so head along to hear some of the best unsigned talent around.

Discover Scotland’s brilliant summer live music festivals. T in the Park at Balado in Kinross and RockNess, set within the luscious backdrop of Loch Ness, attract the biggest names in music including Coldplay, Kasabian and The Chemical Brothers. The numerous festival stages give you the opportunity to indulge in all styles of music as well as enjoy both established acts and emerging bands and artists.

Contemporary folk music in Scotland is also thriving, with the Celtic Connections festival celebrating traditional and world music every January with bands including the Peatbog Faeries and Salsa Celtica.

Whatever your style of music, make sure to join in during your time in Scotland.
