There’s no better way to experience a variety of tastes, textures, strengths, and colours than at one of Scotland’s many food and drink-themed festivals. Throughout the year, there are mouthwatering events featuring plenty of local produce in splendid locations across the country, from city parks to picturesque harbours. Here's a slice of what's on offer:

Spirit of Speyside

In May, join in with celebrations of Scotland’s nation drink, whisky or uisge beatha, ‘the water of life’, at the Spirit of Speyside Festival. Taking place in ‘Malt Whisky Country’, a number of events are held in the Speyside region where the highest concentration of distilleries in Scotland can be found. Over the long weekend, join special distillery tours, visit pretty towns, enjoy drams at energetic ceilidhs and explore the great outdoors. There are hundreds of Speyside malts to choose from, why not visit and find your favourite?

Crail Food Festival

The Crail Food Festival takes place in this charming fishing village in the East Neuk of Fife in June. Events centre around the waterfront where you’ll find food markets, cooking demonstrations, foraging walks and entertaining supper and music events with a local flavour. Follow the Crail Food Trail to try special dishes at the local pubs, cafes and restaurants for only a few pounds each.

Flavour Fortnight

Dumfries & Galloway hosts Flavour Fortnight which showcases the very best of the region’s food and drink offerings. Meet the local producers and discover the passion behind local products while taking in the splendid scenery. Bread baking courses, creamery tours, sausage tasting and cider making are just some of the unique events offered as part of the tastiest two weeks of the calendar.

Foodies Festival

Amid all the festivities in Scotland’s capital in August, you’ll find the Foodies Festival. In previous years this has been held over three days in Edinburgh’s Inverleith Park and is packed with international flavours and cuisine from all around the world. There are world-class cooking demos, drinks masterclasses, pop-up restaurants, and loads of delicious things to nibble at. Visit the food stalls and pick up kitchen tips, stock up on quality ingredients or simply enjoy some street food and a drink while soaking up the festival atmosphere.

Food and Drink Fortnight

Don’t miss out on the Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight, which takes place every September. Enjoy the taste of Scotland and celebrate its rich natural larder. It's one of the biggest foodie events on the calendar; one where you can sample seasonal flavours and learn more about Scottish culture and tradition at the same time.
