As you enjoy exploring Argyll & The Isles’ many wonderful attractions, make sure to indulge in the many restaurants, cafes and tearooms where the menus are bursting with flavour and you’re guaranteed a true taste of the region.

Scotland’s west coast is synonymous with excellent seafood with fresh catches landed off the coast each day and taken straight to the region’s many fine restaurants.

Follow the Seafood Trail which features eight eateries, from the Pierhouse Hotel in Appin in the north of the region to one of the trail’s founding members, the Dunvalanree in Carradale. Look out for the delicious showcases of the finest shellfish as well as fresh and seawater fish and don’t miss the mouth-watering dishes at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar.

But it’s not just on the mainland where lovers of seafood can dazzle their tastebuds. Watch the boats bring in the catch from the terrace at the Cafe Fish in Tobermory on the picturesque island of Mull as you tuck into the daily specials, or dine al fresco during the summer months at Am Birlinn on the island.

The region is home to one Michelin-starred restaurant, set on the splendid Isle of Eriska, a private island with hotel and spa. The menu features a range of wonderful local produce from both land and sea, and cheese lovers won't be able to resist the famous farmhouse cheese trolley.

Back on the mainland, in the seaside village of Dunoon, why not treat yourself to a meal at The Abbots Brae Hotel Restaurant which is known for its traditional dishes of haggis, neeps and tatties, as well as seafood delights? There’s also plenty cafes and tearooms across the area from Oban to Lochgilphead which serve a great range of home baking and sweet treats.

Don’t forget to finish off your meal with a pint of locally crafted ale or a dram of one of the region’s fine whiskies, many of which are renowned for their distinctive peaty characteristics.
