Discover stunning scenery and wonderful wildlife in the hides and nature reserves of the Outer Hebrides.

As one of the last great wilderness regions in the UK, the Hebrides is an important area for conservation and includes within its boundaries the dual UNESCO World Heritage Site of St Kilda together with numerous Sites of Special Scientific Interest, National Scenic Areas, and National Nature Reserves.  These sites make ideal spots to experience and enjoy the incredible range of species to be found here.

Just some of the highlights to be experienced here include spotting the elusive otter and golden eagle, plus visiting the largest single black guillemot colonies in the UK and the second largest grey seal colony in the world.

You'll also find a huge range of avian species across the seasons, from oystercatchers and Greenland barnacle geese in the spring through to whooper swans and teals in the autumn and winter.
