National Museum of Scotland

We’re always telling you how amazing the attractions in Edinburgh are…and why wouldn’t we, there’s so much to see and do in our wonderful capital city. But that’s just our opinion, and if you’re the kind of person who likes solid facts or perhaps several thousand other opinions, then here you go…

Yesterday, travel website TripAdvisor revealed the winners of their inaugural Travellers’ Choice Awards 2013. Three of Edinburgh’s attractions have been voted among the top 10 in the UK (the lists were compiled using reviews and opinions submitted to TripAdvisor by travellers).

Out of the top 10 landmarks in the UK, the brilliant Camera Obscura and World of Illusions was voted in second place, while Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Yacht Britannia are at number five and six respectively.

Camera Obscura and World of Illusions was described as ‘great fun for kids and grown ups alike’, while Britannia was ‘well worth the visit’. Not so sure about the summary of Edinburgh Castle though: ‘castle’. Hmmm… short and sweet yes, but maybe visit our site for a more detailed description.

The incredible National Museum of Scotland, home to over 20,000 objects across 36 galleries was voted the best museum in the UK and the sixth best in Europe! Oh…and it also featured in the top 20 best museums anywhere in the world.

And if that wasn’t enough, Princes Street Gardens was voted the 24th best park in the world and the 9th best in Europe, while Holyrood Park was also included in the top 20 parks anywhere in Europe.

We hate to say we told you so…

So start planning your city break to Edinburgh now! Browse our travel information, learn more about the area, find the perfect accommodation and discover a huge choice of things to see and do including these award-winning attractions.
