Hats off to Edinburgh Castle – the stunning fortress that overlooks our capital city and leaves such a vivid impression to thousands of tourists each year was named the UK’s top heritage attraction for the second year running.

The award was decided at the the British Travel Awards in London on Thursday. Fiona Hyslop, Scotland’s Culture and External Affairs Secretary, said:

“I am delighted that Edinburgh Castle has received this prestigious award for the second year running.

“Not only is it a pivotal part of our history and heritage but it also hosts spectacular events from the world famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo and summer concerts to the fantastic fireworks at the end of the Edinburgh International Festival and at Hogmanay to herald the new year.”
