60 Seconds with Phil Mickelson

It’s been a productive few weeks in Scotland for the player known affectionately as ‘Lefty’.

Barely a week after he won the 2013 Scottish Open at Castle Stuart, Phil Mickelson produced a storming final round of five under par 66 to win the Open at Muirfield and claim the much sought after Claret Jug. His final round included birdies on four of his last six holes to move past fellow contenders Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson, Tiger Woods, Ian Poulter and Adam Scott.

The home of golf appears to hold a special place in Phil’s heart – at Castle Stewart last week, our team caught up with him briefly to find out why he enjoys playing in bonnie Scotland:

I think every body who loves the game will appreciate the opportunity to play here in Scotland. There’s so many great courses, no matter what city you go to. There’s so much history here.

Certainly some kind words from the golfing legend! For more player interviews and golf footage, head over to our dedicated Scotland Home of Golf YouTube channel today.
