Glasses are being polished as we speak and that can only mean one thing: the hotly-anticipated Whisky Month is just round the corner. It’s Scotland’s first ever – and unquestionably largest ever – national celebration of the golden dram, and YOU’RE INVITED to come along and celebrate whisky or uisge beathe, ‘the water of life’, with a packed programme of unmissable events running between 1 – 31 May.
From one-off festivals and themed events to some of the industry’s deep-rooted favourites in the likes of Edinburgh’s Whisky Stramash Festival and Feis Ile – Islay Festival of Malt and Whisky, Whisky Month brings some of the country’s finest whisky producers, great food and amazing music together with a fabulous medley of entertainment and expert-led tasting masterclasses.
Take a look at our round-up of some of the forthcoming whisky events and once you’re at the event, remember to share your favourite snaps with the world using #whiskymonth and #brilliantmoments hashtags. You can find us on all the usual social channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+.
Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, Morayshire
Kicking off the month-long celebrations is the well-established, five-days Spirit of Speyside. With more than 50 distilleries in Speyside alone, there is plenty on offer to suit a range of tastes. Choose from over 300 events across the region, from tastings of rare whiskies to whisky-inspired walks along old smugglers’ routes and exploring the River Spey by canoe or kayak.
Whisky, Words and Wisdom Festival, Dumfries & Galloway
Head south to the town of Wigtown – Scotland’s National Book Town, Dumfries & Galloway, for a range of events held in the intimate settings of the town’s many bookshops. Celebrating Scotland’s amazing food and drink, there will also be food for the mind and soul – music, poetry, art, nature, history and mystery. Find full programme of events.
Spirit of Stirling Whisky Festival
Returning for another year of fantastic events, the hugely successful Spirit of Stirling Whisky Festival brings the country’s best whiskies right into the heart of Scotland. With over 30 distilleries exhibiting on the day and over 200 different whiskies available, make the most of this unique opportunity to see Scotland’s fantastic landscape and historical buildings, and taste its famous food and drink.
Marrying Malts and Molecules, Glasgow
Marrying Malts and Molecules is a fresh approach to whisky and promises an unusual gastronomic journey for your senses.
