We’re excited to hear that Rory McIlroy has confirmed that he will play in the 2014 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, from 10 – 13 July.

The tournament is taking place at the historic club for the first time this year, and McIlroy believes that taking on one of the most renowned links courses in Scotland, The Home of Golf, will be the perfect preparation ahead of attempting to win his first Claret Jug at the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

McIlroy will be playing Royal Aberdeen for the first time and says “I believe it’s a great links with lots of golfing history. I’m really looking forward to the challenge it’ll present”.

Golf fans can now book their ticket to see McIlroy and Mickelson in the Scottish Open, and receive discounts for advanced purchases of season and one day tickets.

The former world number one will be hoping his first visit to Aberdeen is a precursor to him returning to Scottish soil two months later as part of Paul McGinley’s European Ryder Cup team at Gleneagles in Perthshire on 23 – 28 September.
