Visit Cairngorms
Explore and enjoy the landscapes of Scotland's largest National Park.

Imagine what would happen if Princess Merida stepped out of Disney•Pixar’s Brave into the heart of her homeland in the real world? Why not experience it yourself in the Cairngorms National Park?

Capturing the beauty of Scotland in animation was always going to be a challenge. Following Merida’s journey through mythical Scotland in Disney•Pixar’s Brave, you get the real sense of what the stunning Scottish landscape is like, but to do it real justice, you have to experience it for yourself in the Cairngorms.

Horse © Stephen Farthing on behalf of Atholl Estates The UK’s largest National Park could quite literally be the home of Princess Merida, King Fergus and Queen Elinor and whilst you won’t actually come across these characters, you will see and experience so much of what the film depicts. From castles, snow-capped mountains, expansive lochs, quiet glens and waterfalls, to Highland games, adventure activities, survival bush craft and the chance to see the UK’s only resident polar bear – there are so many exciting experiences for you to discover. Travel across ancient lands, through glistening lochs, over rugged mountains and heather strewn landscapes whilst not forgetting to keep your eyes open for the majestic stag on the landscape, scarlet flash of a red squirrel or the magnificent osprey as he swoops for a fish from the crystal clear waters.

Take a canoe down any one of our breath-taking rivers or mount a horse and head into the ancient Caledonian pine forests. Challenge the skills of Merida in archery or simply sit back and take in the stunning views of the Cairngorms National Park.
