    Just a 14 minute walk to Kingussie, leave the car and enjoy a leisurely walk over the River Spey, past the Highland Cattle into the village to shops and restaurants.  The golf course, just another 3/4 mile from Kingussie, is a great place to have lunch either in the Clubhouse or outside on the patio watching the golfers at the 18th hole.  There are marked  trails around the golf course and surrounding hills for short or long walks.

    The superb 200 year-old steading has spectacular views overlooking Ruthven Castle, floodlit at night, and RSPB Bird Reserve.  The bedrooms are full of character with handcrafted furniture (burr elm), superkingsize beds (or twins), vaulted ceiling, wooden beams, wooden floors, leather settees, TV, DVD (DVD library), coffee/tea. Full central heating and a log burning stove in the hall for an even cosier atmosphere after skiing in the winter.  Drying room and secure bike, ski storage.  Private parking.

    Hearty full Scottish breakfast with home-made bread and jams, also vegetarian options.  Try the apple pancake with fresh fruit and maple syrup!!

    Mountain bike from the doorstep (bike hire delivered to your door), fishing 400m, Loch Insh Watersports 6 miles, Highland Wildlife Park 6 miles, Loch an Eilein 10 miles, Loch Morlich 16 miles, skiing half hour drive.

    If you arrive by bus or train we will collect you.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre:- From the Kingussie Folk Museum Tourist Information Point turn left out of the car park onto Spey Street. Go along Spey Street and over the bridge at the River Gynack. Turn left onto Station Road and go over the railway crossing. The road becomes Ruthven Road follow it for 3/4 mile you will start to see Ruthven Barracks on the left, take the road to the right for the Steadings.

    Getting there by railway:- From Kingussie railway station, take B970 less than one mile towards Insh. 400 metres over the Spey Bridge, we are on the right opposite Ruthven castle/barracks.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- 45 minutes drive from Inverness airport.
