    This luxury cottage enjoys a stunning location overlooking beautiful Loch Harport with the nearby Cuillins in the background. Special reduced rates are available for low season short breaks, minimum stay of 3 nights.

    Shorefield is a purpose-built detached self catering cottage, comfortable, well equipped with all mod cons and furnished to a very high standard. Situated in an idyllic location, within it's own private grounds, it commands breath taking, unspoilt, panoramic views, with guaranteed privacy, without being isolated.  During your stay you may be privileged to experience one of the many spectacular sunsets over Loch Bracadale and the MacLeod Tables. The cottage is located within the crofting and fishing hamlet of Portnalong, which is an ideal central island location, for exploring the wonders of Skye as well as nearby Raasay and Wester Ross.  You are only a short drive from the world famous Talisker Distillery, located in the neighbouring village of Carbost.  Glenbrittle and Sligachan, with their various access paths into The Cuillin range, are also easily accessible and nearby. There are many beautiful walks, secluded beaches and island wildlife, on your doorstep.  Shorefield is a wonderful setting for a relaxing, peaceful and chilled out holiday or an action packed activity break. It has something to offer everyone - ideal for family breaks, romantic getaways and outdoor activity breaks, such as kayaking, hillwalking, mountain biking, only to name a few of the activities catered for on the island. 

    Ex-Servicemen from the islands of Harris and Lewis, settled in the hamlet of Portnalong, after the Great War.  They made a living mainly through crofting and fishing.  The island is steeped in folklore and history with many historical sites, located nearby. The pier is a 5 minute walk from the cottage, where you will see the local fishermen landing their daily catch. Fresh locally sourced seafood, shellfish and game can be purchased from local Oysterman's shop in Carbost.  There are a variety of highly recommended eating places on the island, including the renowned Three Chimneys Restaurant at Colbost, near Dunvegan.  The local hotel is a short walk from the cottage, and serves food during the Summer months. Portree, the capital of the island, is only 19 miles away and has a picturesque harbour area and a variety of quaint shops, selling local produce and crafts, as well as a supermarket. If you wish to discover the Western Isles, you can take a car ferry from Uig, located in North Skye to the Islands of Uist and Harris.   

    Sitting in the cottage, you are privileged to a spectacular lochside location, with an panoramic view, which constantly changes with the seasons and is truly awesome all the year round. It is a photographer's paradise. Come and fall in love with the beautiful, mystical island of Skye!!

    The accommodation comprises of:-

    A fully fitted kitchen, with modern High Gloss Cream Units and solid wood work surfaces. The kitchen is well equiped, with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven/hob with extractor hood, washing machine and various other gadgets and mod cons.

    A dining area is accessible from kitchen, by glass panel door, accommodates a large stylish oak dining table, 6 luxury leather chairs and high quality table-ware

    A spacious lounge, with French doors opening onto a patio area, with a spectacular view over Loch Harport and the Cuillins. The Lounge is equipped with Freesat Flat Screen TV, DVD player, and Music
    System. Furniture includes 2 modern dark brown leather sofas, with matching foot stool, and coffee table. There is a selection of books, cds and dvds.

    The Master Bedroom is fully carpeted with a King size bed and stylish high quality "shaker" furniture, comprising of 2 bedside cabinets, double wardrobe, chest of drawers and mirror. You also have a flat screen satellite tv, and clock radio. The en-suite has a wash basin vanity unit, wc , walk-in shower cubicle with Power Shower. Recessed ceiling halogen lighting. Shaving point.

    Bedroom 2 is fully carpeted with twin beds. South facing room with a sea view. Good size, bright, room with fitted wardrobe, bedside cabinet, mirror, clock radio and hair dryer.

    Bedroom 3 is fully carpeted, good size, south facing Double room with sleigh bed. A sea view. Bright room with fitted wardrobe, bedside cabinet, mirror, clock radio and hair dryer.

    The Main Bathroom is bright, with stylish decor. Double ended bath, with overhead power shower and fitted shower screen. Recessed overhead halogen lighting, Shaving point.

    A good quality fold-away bed , cot and highchair are available on request.

    The cottage has central heating throughout, with high spec insulation and is fully double glazed. Very Cosy!

    The grounds comprise of a driveway, private car parking for at least 3 cars, a garden area and drying green. Garden furniture and barbeque equipment.

    Road Directions

    Once you have crossed the Skye Bridge, at the Kyleakin roundabout take 3rd exit onto A87, signposted for Portree and Uig. Continue on A87 for approx 25.5 miles until you reach Sligachan. Turn left onto A863 then drive for approx 5.5 miles and then turn left onto the B8009, signposted for Portnalong and Carbost. Continue on B8009 for approx 6 miles, passing through Carbost village and heading to Portnalong. Drive passed the sign for Portnalong, until you see direction signs for Taigh Ailean Hotel. Continue passed hotel and "Shorefield" is the third house on your right, overlooking the sea.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre:- On leaving Centre, turn left and head out of Portree on the A87,signposted Dunvegan and Uig. Continue along A87 for approx 10 miles until you reach Sligachan.Turn right onto A863 then drive for approx 5.5 miles and then turn left onto the B8009, signposted for Portnalong and Carbost. Continue on B8009 for approx 6 miles, passing through Carbost village and heading to Portnalong. Drive passed the sign for Portnalong, until you see direction signs for Taigh Ailean Hotel. Continue passed hotel and "Shorefield" is the third house on your right, overlooking the sea.

    Getting there by railway:- Train will terminate at Kyle of Lochalsh, if travelling via Inverness and in which case you would cross Skye Bridge, and the directions are same as above from that point.

    If you are travelling on the West Highland Rail line, your train will terminate in Mallaig and would have to take the ferry across to Armadale, on Isle of Skye. From Armadale, you take A851 and drive for approx 15 miles until you reach a T Junction, then turn left onto A87, signposted for Portree.Continue on A87 for approx 18 miles, until you reach Sligachan. Turn left onto A863 - from this point follow directions as above "by car".
