Perthshire enjoys fast travel connections by motorway and rail and once you arrive, you will feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The excellent local bus and train services make exploring easy and straightforward.
By road
There are a series of main routes which take you through Perthshire, including the M90 and M9 from the south and A9 from the north. The Perthshire Tourist Route is signposted and runs from Dunblane through fertile, rolling farmland before arriving at the pleasant hillside town of Crieff, and continues right up past the rugged rocks of Sma' Glen to Pitlochry.

By bus
The main bus station in the city of Perth is on Leonard Street and offers bus routes throughout Perthshire and to other regions. Information on all local buses is available from Perthshire Council’s website.
By rail
Perthshire can be reached quickly by train on east coast lines from Edinburgh as well as the north and west. The main train station is in Perth, and there are smaller stations in towns around the region, allowing for easy access to places such as Gleneagles or even Pitlochry.

By air
There are several options for flying to Perthshire, The best way to find the most competitive fares for flying around Scotland is to search on comparison sites such as SkyScanner, Travel Supermarket and Cheapflights.
The nearest airport to Perthshire is Dundee Airport which has regular flights from Birmingham and London City which receive international flights, and also from Jersey and Belfast airports. Outside of Angus and Dundee, Edinburgh Airport is the nearest airport, while Glasgow Airport and Aberdeen Airport are not much further. All three are under two hours from the region by car and also have straight-forward connections by public transport.
By Ferry
Direct routes on Scottish ferries operate from Ireland to ports in the West Coast. From there you can take public transport or drive to the region which is around 95 miles (152 km) from Troon and 140 miles (225km) from Cairnryan. Ferries also run from the Netherlands to Newcastle in the north east of England, which is around 150 miles (241km) from the region.
