Farmers' markets are a regular feature across towns and villages in Scotland and are the best place to sample, experience and purchase produce direct from the producers. As you browse the stalls bursting with flavours, chat to the stallholders who will not only be able to talk about where the produce has come from, but also share cooking tips to help you get the best from their products.
Don't miss the monthly markets held across the region. From Montrose on the first Saturday of the month, Forfar on the second and Dundee on the third, you are spoilt for choice with an excellent range of food and drink. Many farmers and producers have joined up with local craftspeople so that many markets now feature unique arts and crafts too.
As well as markets, Dundee & Angus is also home to a number of specialist producers and farm shops. Browse delicous dairy produce at The Cheesery in Dundee or browse the foodie delights on offer at the Peel Farm Shop near Kirriemuir.
During the summer months, look out for fresh raspberries and strawberries that are available throughout the region, and seasonal asparagus and sea kale from specialist farmers at Eassie Farm by Glamis.
