Carronvale House, The Boys' Brigade Scottish Headquarters, is used as a Training, Conference & Activity Centre for The Boys' Brigade & also by churches, charities, hospices, schools, health & local authorities, youth organisations and private groups.

The Grange Manor was built in the late 19th century for the Factor (or agent) to the Earl of Zetland's local estates. The Earl's own house, long since demolished, was just across the way although the Earl was seldom resident.
