Explore the scary Clava cairns an ancient burial site that dates back thousands of years not the place to spend a night. Rumoured to be that a French Canadian tourist decided to take a souvenir (a rock) from this old burial mound back home and suffered nothing but misfortune to such an extent that he sent back the rock that he took apologising for taking it, or the battlefield at Culloden the last major land battle in 1746 between Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Scottish army and the English redcoat army led by the butcher 'the Duke of Cumberland' infamous for his ethnic cleansing of the highlands, still hated to this day.
Why not investigate the Loch Ness monster 'Nessie' in her lair in the deepest part of loch ness 'Urquhart Bay' and also the most common place to spot her.
Visit Urquhart castle close to Nessie, but with her
own history, a must see, or sail the Jacobite 'live the legend'. This is a boat trip on the tranquil waters of the loch, highly recommended, or why not try one of the walking tours of Inverness explaining the history of the old and new Inverness.
