Wheatrig B&B

B&B

Longniddry, East Lothian, EH32 0PL

Wheatrig is a newly renovated traditional farmhouse providing modern comfort in peaceful countryside yet close to East Lothian and Edinburgh’s main attractions. Breakfasts of home-grown and local produce are our speciality!

Wheatrig is a place we love to call home.  We are blessed with stunning views of the Lammermuir Hills and the Firth of Forth, all set in peaceful countryside and yet just a stone’s throw from some of the most beautiful coastline in Britain.

East Lothian is home to some of the most famous golf courses in the world, including Muirfield, Gullane, Musselburgh, Dunbar, Craigielaw and Luffness and other local attractions include Musselburgh Racecourse, Lennoxlove House, The National Museum of Flight, Tantallon Castle, Glenkinchie Distillery, the Scottish Seabird Centre and Bass Rock.

Whilst being nestled in rural peace and quiet, we are also lucky to be extremely close to Edinburgh, arguably the most beautiful city in the country, where we can enjoy culture, great entertainment, excellent food and drink and unique shopping.

In 2012, we, Anna and William Thomson, moved into the farmhouse at Wheatrig which we then completely renovated and turned into a comfortable yet contemporary family home. William’s family have been farming at Wheatrig for well over 100 years and so our house is without doubt our forever home.

Now that we have settled into our home, we really enjoy sharing our views and the peace of the East Lothian countryside with our visitors and allowing them the chance to explore East Lothian and Edinburgh with a great base to come back to in the evening.

Visitors are also very welcome to say hello to our various pets – dogs, sheep, horses and hens – or have a look around the farm.

Anna runs a PR consultancy, specialising in rural and foodie businesses, and so we are passionate about giving our guests the very best local produce during their stay. We produce our own eggs and flour and the bacon, sausages, milk and apple juice all also come from East Lothian so we can guarantee that breakfast will be something to look forward to.

Our two B&B bedrooms – one double and one twin – used to form part of a derelict cottage but are now part of our house and renovated to the highest standard. The rooms share a ‘jack and jill’ bathroom, making the suite ideal for families or two couples. For those travelling as just one couple, the two rooms make the ideal suite – bedroom, bathroom and living room.

The suite is attached to, but accessed separately, from the farmhouse, meaning that guests have the highest level of privacy and independence, whether they choose to come home late or stay in the room watching TV or going online!

During the Scottish Open Golf Championship in July 2015 we have an additional king size en-suite bedroom available and so can accommodate a total of 6 guests at Wheatrig. Please contact us for further information.

We look forward to welcoming you to our home as you travel away from yours.
