Whitchester provides a place of rest and refreshment with a Christian ethos and functions both as a guest house and retreat centre.
This refurbished Victorian country house, with its peaceful ambience, is set in 3 acres of landscaped garden and woodland just a 10 minute drive from the centre of Hawick. It is an ideal base to take time apart from the busyness of life, explore the beauty of the surrounding countryside and enjoy simply being. With a woodland and richly flowered garden to explore in the summer and a cosy log fire in the winter, both house and grounds are tailored to provide you space to relax.
With daily chapel services and the option of led retreat reflections on request, we also seek to provide space for those specifically wanting space to reflect and pray.
We have three ground floor rooms with facilities suitable for those with disabilities (e.g. walk in showers).
Where possible we use home grown and local produce for our varied menu. Vegetarian options are available and we are happy to cater for more specialised diets with prior notice.
For a more energetic holiday, there are plenty of walks in the local area and mountain biking routes at the nearby Craik Forest, or a little further afield at Glentress. The historic houses and Abbeys of the borders are easily accessible by car and if the tide time are suitable it is possible to have a day visit on Lindesfarne.
VARIETY OF TARIFFS AND SEASONAL BREAKS AVAILABLE.
