Edinburgh International Climbing Arena

South Platt Hill, Ratho, Newbridge, Ratho, City Of Edinburgh, EH28 8AA

The EICA (Edinburgh International Climbing Arena) is Europe’s largest indoor climbing arena.

Located in Ratho, in just one day you can experience the ultimate adrenaline rush of the aerial assault course, take on one of the mighty walls in the world's largest climbing arena and then end the day with a relaxing soak in a tranquil spa. From the climbing tower to scrambles soft play, there is something for all ages at EICA.

    Aerial assault

Are you brave enough to take on the aerial assault? Take a leap of faith and step off a platform 100 ft above the arena, fly down the death-defying twisted zip slide and then follow a series of formidable obstacles.

Why not really test your head for heights and lower yourself down the front of the windows like Spiderman? From a platform above the arena, face your fears, step backwards and let go!

At the largest indoor climbing arena in the world, it's a bit of a given that you'll want to try out the mighty walls. From the 'Tower' to the 'Hanger', there is something for all the family to tackle. If you've never climbed before, there are taster courses available.

After you've mastered climbing on the walls, try it without the hassle of ropes and harnesses. The boulders may not be as high but that doesn't make them easy.

    Mobile tower

If the kids aren't quite ready for the arena, the mobile climbing tower is an excellent way to get started for all those older than 4 years old. With the supervision of instructors and an auto belay system, they can swing down in the safety of a harness.

    Scrambles soft play

The younger ones can also experience the excitement of EICA. The climbing themed soft play allows them to enjoy exploring, swinging and climbing, while you can look on from the comfort of the café.

    Gym / fitness classes

Don't fancy extreme adventures? Try out the gym which boasts top of the range cardio and strength equipment, where you can have a fantastic workout while looking onto the spectacular view of the old quarry. There’s also a full list of fitness classes available.

After experiencing the adrenaline pumping activities at EICA, what better way to end your day than with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.
