Armadale

Towns & Villages

The hamlet of Armadale is on the Sleat Peninsula, at the south end of the Isle of Skye, and boasts a very attractive sheltered beach.

The half kilometer stretch of golden sand attracts many watersports enthusiasts throughout the year with the months of August to October being the peak time for surfers. The rugged shoreline offers excellent opportunities for rock pooling and climbing and the surrounding area is home to many species of coastal birds including oystercatchers, rock doves and the famous puffin!  The extremely rare primula scotica, the Scottish primrose, can also be found here.

As well as by road, the village can be reached by ferry across the Sound of Sleat from Mallaig, which is a pleasant crossing with plenty of opportunities to spot sea wildlife. On dry land visitors can explore Clan Donald Skye - a museum which tells the story of Skye!
