Tweedsmuir

Towns & Villages

The picturesque village of Tweedsmuir is situated beside the River Tweed, three miles west of Peebles in the Scottish Borders.

The Tweedsmuir area is an excellent location for those who want to escape the rigours of everyday life and enjoy some walking, biking and wildlife watching. Robert Burns stayed at the Crook Inn, a 17th century drover inn, and wrote the poem Willie Wastle’s Wife.

On the road to the Fruid Reservoir from Tweedsmuir is the Giants Stone with two further stones on the opposite side of the road. It is believed that these stones are the remains of a Druidical temple or Pictish court of justice. In fact visitors to the area will uncover a surprising number of ancient stones.

One of the highlights of the village calendar is the family friendly Tweedsmuir Music Festival.
