Edinburgh & The Lothians leaves you spoilt for choice when it comes to golf, with an amazing selection of courses that allow you to make the most of the natural contours of the land while enjoying some testing holes at the same time.


The city of Edinburgh has a good selection of quality courses with amazing views of the cityscape and surrounding hills. Braid Hills is a gem of a course that provides commanding views of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat, not to mention the Pentland Hills and the Firth of Forth. This testing hill-top course was designed by three times Open champion Bob Ferguson and Peter McEwan, a 19th century Musselburgh clubmaker.

Founded in 1761, Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society is the fourth oldest in the world. This attractive parkland course on the outskirts of Edinburgh has been a Regional Qualifying Venue for the Open. Enjoy a challenging round with great views of the Firth of Forth.

East Lothian

East Lothian is blessed with a wide array of stunning and historic golf courses that will bring you hours of golfing pleasure. Muirfield, venue for The Open Championship in 2013, is just one of the many great golf courses in 'Scotland's Golf Coast'. It will be the 16th time that Muirfield  has hosted the tournament first occasion since 2002 when South African Ernie Els clinched the Claret Jug after a dramatic play-off.

Gullane boasts not one, not two but three fantastic golf courses. Musselburgh has a long association with the game of golf and Archerfield Links Golf Club has two outstanding 18-hole courses: the Dirleton Links and the Fidra Links.

The excellent Links at Craigielaw Golf Club now boasts a fantastic 25 bedroom Craigielaw Lodge and is also home to the long established and internationally known Eric Grandison Golf School.

A great way to discover some of the fine golf courses of East Lothian is with the East Lothian Golf Pass.

West Lothian

West Lothian has a rich golfing heritage and golfers are simply spoilt for choice. Treat yourself to a stay at the luxurious Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club, and play the fantastic East and West courses. Further west you will find Linlithgow Golf Course. This championship standard parkland course has stunning views over the Forth Estuary.


Midlothian has wealth of golfing delights within easy reach of Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. Just 6 miles to the southeast of the city is the mature parkland course at Broomieknowe Golf Course. This superb easy walking course sits on an elevated height and affords superb views of the surrounding countryside. Midlothian is also home to the well established and picturesque parkland course at Glencourse Golf Club. Here you will find a number of challenging holes to keep you on your toes.
