Scotland, the Home of Golf, attracts fans of the sport from across the globe. Many come here to play world-class courses which can be found in all four corners of the country, including some which play host to prestigious tournaments like The Ryder Cup, The Open and The Scottish Open. After a challenging round of golf, the 19th hole is a popular spot to wind down but there are many hotels and resorts where you can combine golf with some rest and relaxation at a spa - a winning combination.

Golf and spa resorts

There are a number of spa hotels and resorts which combine rest and relaxtion with golf. They include access to some of Scotland's best known courses, for instance the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles, host to The 2014 Ryder Cup. Several can be found within easy reach of some of Scotland's most vibrant cities, like Archerfield just outside Scotland's capital, Edinburgh, or Mar Hall, a gothic mansion near Glasgow.

Wherever you choose, you can enjoy both a testing round of 18 holes on the resort's adjoining golf course before heading back to the hotel and taking full advantage of a relaxing massage, sauna or spa treatments.

Spa hotels in golfing regions

Alternatively, there are spa resorts and hotels which are within easy reach of fantastic courses around Scotland. They make the perfect getaway for couples, with both enjoying access to first-rate spa facilities and a round or two of golf. You could even benefit from the cultural scene and shopping opportunities in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen to make your golf break the ultimate active city break.
