Perthshire plays host to a variety of arts and culture events. Whether it’s just for you or for the whole family, there are plenty of events held across Perthshire from live music and Highland games, to literary festivals and the spectacle of the Enchanted Forest.

Perthshire boasts a flourishing cultural and music scene which you can experience at a number of events and festivals. Attend the 11-day Perth Festival of Arts in May, a musical extravaganza which in recent years has featured performances from Jools Holland and Van Morrison. July sees the hottest acts around descend on T in the Park – a three-day outdoor music festival held annually in Kinross. Ever since its inception in 1994, it has boasted impressive line-ups which have featured Coldplay, Tom Jones and Kings of Leon.

Other musical highlights include Dougie McLean’s Perthshire Amber Festival held every autumn. Enjoy fantastic acoustic performances in a diverse range of venues across Perthshire including Blair Castle and the Scottish Crannog Centre.

Watch traditional Highland tests of strength and endurance such as the hammer throw and the tossing of the caber at one of the 14 Highland games held throughout the region during the summer months.

In October you can experience the outdoors as you never have before at the Enchanted Forest. Marvel as Faskally Wood near Pitlochry is transformed into a magical nocturnal wonderland with dazzling light and sound effects.

January brings with it another superb event to the small town of Pitlochry, the Winter Words Festival. Nearly a decade old, this literary festival has grown over the year to become one of the highlights of Highland Perthshire’s cultural calendar. Enjoy ten days of poetry readings, talks, writing workshops, cookery demonstrations and more.

These are just some of the arts and culture events you can experience in Perthshire. Take a look through the listings below to discover more.
