A number of special events are taking place this April to mark the 60th anniversary of The Royal Yacht Britannia.

A home-from-home for the Royal Family for over forty years,  The Royal Yacht Britannia is inviting visitors to come dressed in vintage 50s fashion on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April. Live music from the era, 1950s activities, complimentary cake and tots of rum will be served all week. There will be prizes of Britannia pink fizz, created in celebration of her 60th Anniversary, for the best dressed visitors.

On Tuesday April 16, at 2.15pm, exactly the same time Britannia was launched at John Brown Shipyard in Clydebank in 1953, Britannia's longest serving Royal Yachtsmen, Ellis 'Norrie' Norrell MVO RVM, will raise a new flag which has been specially commissioned in honour of all those who served aboard Britannia.

Other special events will include quayside fireworks on Saturday 20 April and members of the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines performing on the quayside at 2pm on the Sunday, stirring many memories from her illustrious past as she passes this momentous milestone.
