Every year the city of Glasgow is home to a variety of stunning events and 2014 is no exception. The city plays host to the XX Commonwealth Games, the MTV Music Awards, and an array of Homecoming Scotland 2014 events.

Events in Glasgow and the Clyde Valley run right from the start of January with Celtic Connections and international curling at Braehead through to the December when the city declares to the world - Glasgow Loves Christmas. The Clyde Valley also has a number of one-day events and festivals, including the much-loved Highland games.

February sees three Glasgow festivals cover all genres of film, while in March you can laugh yourself silly at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.

The Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art is one of the UK’s boldest visual arts events. It kicks off in April and takes place in venues across the city.  You can also enjoy the best of Scottish and international writers in April at Aye Write!

Discover music, theatre and dance at the West End Festival in June or enjoy an exciting programme of unique and innovative performances, including world premieres, at the Merchant City Festival in July. In late July and early August Festival 2014 will be held, a cultural celebration of Glasgow which will coincide with the Commonwealth Games.

Why not try something different at the Strathaven Balloon Festival, the Kirkintilloch Canal Festival or the Electric Glen in East Renfrewshire?
