There is a fantastic selection of music, dance and theatre events hosted in Perthshire throughout the year. From West End shows to gigs by big name acts or intimate acoustic performances in unique venues, there’s a great variety of concerts, festivals, theatre productions and more to choose from.

Summer sees the arrival of Scotland’s biggest music festival T in the Park. Join the crowds as the biggest acts descend upon Balado for three days of unforgettable music. Other great events including the 11-day Perth Festival of the Arts held in May, which in recent years has seen appearances by everyone from Dame Kiri Te Kanawa to Van Morrison, and the Perthshire Amber Festival. Spearheaded by local singer-songwriter Dougie McLean, this hugely successful festival is held every autumn and hosts acoustic music in venues as diverse as Blair Castle and the Scottish Crannog Centre.

There are 14 Highland games held across the region during the summer months. Here you can watch traditional Highland sports like the hammer throw and the tossing of the caber, hear the rousing sound of bag pipes and see Highland dancers perform.

In the evening you can catch a performance at one of the region’s excellent performance venues. Perth boasts the modern Perth Concert Hall which offers a varied year-round programme featuring drama, music, comedy, dance, film, talks and more. The Pitlochry Festival Theatre, set against the picturesque backdrop of the rolling countryside of Highland Perthshire, is one of Scotland’s most esteemed theatrical institutions where you can enjoy classic works alongside new, cutting-edge productions.

Whatever time of year you choose to visit Perthshire, there are plenty of exciting music, dance and theatre events taking place across the region to keep you entertained.
