John Muir Winter Carnival
Get ready for an action-packed day of adventure and family fun on 29 November at Foxlake Adventures in Dunbar. At the John Muir Winter Festival, beat the cold as you take part in some exhilarating activities, such as trail running, cyclocross, zorbing, wake boarding and coastal rowing. This event is part of The Saltire Festival, and celebrates the life and legacy of the man dubbed ‘the father of the National Parks’.
Catch sight of some classic cars weaving through some breathtaking Scottish landscapes as they make their way to the very north of country. The Scottish leg of LeJog, the Lands End to John O'Groats Reliability Trial and Tour, takes place on 8 – 9 December and only features vehicles built before 1984. This event is a must-see for motorsports fans.
Stretch your legs on a guided walk and learn about the landscape. On Orkney, follow rangers on winter walks around historical sites such as Ring of Brodgar and the Standing Stones of Stenness.
Scotland has hundreds of miles of walking trails and paths for all levels of walker. From the West Highland Way to Scotland’s new 470-mile Gore-tex National Trail which stretches from Kirk Yetholm to Cape Wrath, there is a suitable route for you.
Set your own pace and explore the landscapes on two wheels. Whether you want the thrills of a downhill mountain bike track, or a leisurely ride through countryside, Scotland offers some unbeatable cycling opportunities as well as some great events and festivals.
