Enjoy delicious meals in award-winning restaurants prepared using the finest local ingredients and discover the secrets behind whisky-making at historic distilleries across the region.

Enjoy an exquisitely prepared meal in the most luxurious of settings at Andrew Fairlie’s Restaurant at the Gleneagles hotel. The only Scottish establishment to be awarded two Michelin stars, it boasts a mouth-watering menu featuring French cuisine with an ingenious Scottish twist. Employing the freshest local produce to magnificent effect, try the restaurant's signature dish, succulent smoked salmon prepared over whisky barrels for no less than 12 hours.

You can pick up some regional delicacies to take home with you on the first Saturday of each month at Perth Farmers' Market, which was the first to be set up in Scotland. Browse stalls displaying an array of seasonal produce including organic vegetables, meat and game, soft fruit and homemade preserves. Many stallholders offer free tastings and are more than happy to answer questions you might have about the origins of their produce. 
During the summer months you’ll find plenty of signs around the Blairgowrie area pointing you in the direction of farms where you can ‘pick your own’ fruit including strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries and redcurrants. You might even have the chance to get your hands on the Tayberry, an intensely sweet hybrid of the raspberry and blackberry which is unique to the region.

Turn your attention to the region’s specialities of the alcoholic variety, from fine local ales to iconic whisky malts and blends and fruit wines.

Quench your thirst at the Moulin Pub which only serves ales produced in its own micro-brewery across the road, or stop by Edradour Distillery, the smallest in Scotland, to see how its single Highland malt whisky is produced. You can hear the stories behind other famous malts and blends such as Dewar, Bell and Famous Grouse at distilleries throughout the region. Or discover delicious wines made from berries and flowers at Cairn O'Mohr Country Wines.
