Pay a visit to one of Shetland’s breweries and sample award-winning ales or enjoy locally brewed spirits at bars and pubs spread across the islands.

Shetland is now home to two breweries, Valhalla and Lerwick Brewing Co.

Situated on the island of Unst, Valhalla enjoys the status of being the UK's most northern brewery. It was established in 1997 and has been producing award-winning ales ever since. Its six ales range from the dark Auld Rock to the caramel and chocolate characteristics of Sjolet Stout. Visitors can find out more about the brewing process on Shetland, as well as sampling these unique ales, during a tour of the brewery.

Lerwick Brewing Co offers an exciting new dimension to the brewing scene in Shetland, producing uniquely tasting beers and new seasonal specials. It is gearing up to host scheduled weekly tours giving visitors complete access to the plant.

Although no whisky is currently distilled in Shetland, the islands are home to Blackwood's Distillery which produces vodka and the world's only hand-picked gin.
