The Aberdeen Country Fair, held on the city's Belmont Street on the last Saturday of each month is one of the largest farmers' markets in Scotland and regularly attracts up to 30,000 people. You can pick up a range of delicious produce such as local cheese, cured meats and handmade chocolates. The Aberdeen International Street Market comes to the city on a quarterly basis and adds a continental spin to the traditional farmers' markets set up.
Away from the city, farmers' markets are also held in Banchory, Ellon, Stonehaven and many more towns across the region. Peterhead, was the region's first market and it is also home to the UK's leading white fish port. The town's fish market offers catch straight off the trawlers with haddock, cod and whiting the most popular fish on sale.
Farmers' markets have expanded in recent years with farmers and producers joining forces with local craftspeople. Look out for an excellent selection of arts and craft stalls at the markets you visit.
