Take a stroll through one of the charming parks and gardens in the Highlands, where you can admire flowers, spot rare wildlife and enjoy a range of outdoor activities.

Whether you are admiring the colourful gardens which surround Dunvegan Castle on Skye, or adventure seeking in Cairngorms National Park, you will be amazed at what the Highlands’ parks and gardens have to offer.

One of the most beautiful attractions in the Highlands is Inverewe Garden at Poolewe where the warm currents of the Gulf Stream along the west coast have produced remarkable results. This stunning 50-acre garden is an oasis of exotic plants that includes rhododendrons from the Himalayas, eucalypts from Tasmania as well eye-catching flora from South America, Africa and elsewhere. You can also enjoy wandering along a series of trails as well as stopping off at a hide from where you can spot seals and otters.

The castles of the Highlands tend to have wonderful gardens and Cawdor Castle near Nairn has three of them. The Walled Garden is the oldest and dates from around 1600, the Flower Garden is an absolute delight and the Wild Garden lies between the castle and Cawdor Burn.
