    A great 'get-away-from-it-all' youth hostel situated at the foot of the spectacular Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye.

    Glenbrittle Youth Hostel is a great place to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.

    You can go walking and climbing, or just sit back and enjoy this wonderful rugged scenery - you don't need to climb a Munro to appreciate the amazing views. You can see waterfalls, lochs, beaches, fairy pools and the Islands of Rhum, Eigg, Muck, Soay, Canna and Uist, all without taking your hands out of your pockets! Also not too far away and worth visiting is Dunvegan Castle, the Talisker Whisky distillery at Carbost, Glendale Toy Museum, Colbost Croft Museum.

    Situated at the foot of the spectacular Cuillin ridge and surrounded by wonderful rugged scenery, our simple mountaineering hostel offers practical facilities and comfortable communal areas. The hostel has a modern self-catering kitchen as well as plenty of dining space. It's equipped with a drying room and a homely shared lounge area adorned with old photographs of the surrounding area. There are numerous books and games as well as a guitar for the evenings.

    A87 to Sligachan (signed Portree). A863 to Drynoch (signed Dunvegan), B8009 to Carbost, unclassified single-track road to Glenbrittle, 7 miles from the turn off.



    Public Transport Directions

    Getting there by bus: The nearest bus stop is Carbost, which is 7 miles away, but this is a limited service and not daily.

    Getting there by rail: Nearest station is at at Kyle of Lochalsh.

    Please note there is no public transport to/from Glenbrittle. For the experience walker there is a strenuous open moorland track from Sligachan (4.6 miles) before joining the road for a further 3 miles. This path is not suitable for cyclists.
