An award-winning youth hostel in a beautiful lochside village in the north of the Isle of Arran. Lochranza Youth Hostel offers excellent budget and group accommodation. It is also a popular choice as a Rent-a-Hostel for Exclusive Use.
Lochranza Youth Hostel is an award winning youth hostel. It sits on the banks of Loch Ranza opposite a 13th century ruined castle. The village of Lochranza itself is almost surrounded by hills and is a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life for a few days.
The youth hostel garden is a great spot to watch wildlife, including red deer, red squirrel, grey seals, otters and golden eagles. The hostel benefits from a great bus connection with the bus stop only 5 minutes walk away.
Lochranza is an ideal base for tackling the many trails and ridges of the Arran mountains including Goat Fell, the island's highest peak. For the less ambitious the Cock of Arran walk, which provides a beautifully scenic low level trek, starts and finishes at the hostel. Experienced cyclists will enjoy the challenge of the circular 58 mile ride round the island.
A nearby distillery to Lochranza Youth Hostel is arguably the best in Scotland, and utilises the smooth water that trickles into the glen. Arran has many other activities on offer including off-road biking, pony-trekking, fishing, golfing and watersports.
As winner of the prestigious Green Tourism Business Goldstar Award 2011, Lochranza Youth Hostel is ranked as one of the UKs top ten greenest businesses. Excellent budget and group accommodation is available, but the hostel also family friendly with private en-suite rooms, a spacious self-catering kitchen and laundry service available.
Dogs are now welcome at Lochranza when guests book a private room (small fee charged). Please book in advance to ensure that a dog friendly room is allocated.
We look forard to welcoming you to our Youth Hostel.
