Almondell & Calderwood Country Park is a popular 88 hectare (220 acre) Visitor Attraction near Broxburn. One of three Country Parks in West Lothian - also visit Beecraigs Country Park near Linlithgow and Polkemmet Country Park near Whitburn.
Almondell & Calderwood Country Park offers beautiful woodland and riverside walks, picnic areas with seating and a hireable barbecue facility.
The Country Park has a varied and interesting history, stretching back 340 million years! Its rich history blends neatly into the overall attraction of the Park.
The Park's Visitor Centre offers a warm welcome, displays, gallery, information and a cosy conservatory where you can enjoy a cup of tea as you look out over the garden. Adjacent to the Visitor Centre is the new play area for children.
The Country Park and particularly Calderwood SSSI, is a wildlife haven. Roe deer, fox, heron, otters and woodpeckers all make their home here. The many Oak and Hazel trees provide food and shelter for the woodmice and squirrels.
The Countryside Ranger Service help to manage our natural areas and wildlife, and can also arrange talks, school visits, summer events and give advice on general countryside matters. Each year the Ranger Service runs a full programme of public events.
The Park is open throughout the year and admission is free. The Visitor Centre only closes on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, the 1st. and 2nd. January every year.
