Lime Tree Gallery

Galleries

Achintore Road, Fort William, Inverness Shire, PH33 6RQ

The gallery is a purpose built space rare in the north west highlands and is the perfect place to visit.

The Lime Tree An Ealdhain Gallery - An Ealdhain is gaelic and means  ' the place for creativity'  The gallery has hosted several shows from the National Art Collections including works from Goya, David Hockney, Andy Goldsworthy and the Frank Hurley Archive but also gives contemporary artists a platform to show and sell their work.

This year we are bringing Matisse: Drawing with Scissors from the Hayward Gallery Touring, Southbank Centre London to the gallery. The exhibition will be on from 3rd May - 1st June.

Accompanying the works of this world renowned artist, is that of Jacqueline Watt, an established Scottish contemporary artist and lecturer. Jacqueline will be giving an illustrated talk on her work on 3rd May at the gallery, covering her six weeks stay in Collioure in the South of France as recipient of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh residency in 2011.Jacqueline will illustrate, through words and visuals, the key elements of her creative inspiration during this time, from the sometimes dark history of Collioure’s past through the Catalan culture and its fiercely independent people.

The talk will explain her creative process and thinking and in particular her passion for vibrant colour, which she shares with Matisse who lived and worked in the area over a hundred years.

For more information or to book a ticket for the talk please get in contact.
