    Located on the outskirts of Portree, Aros has a fascinating combination of music, wildlife, film and exhibitions.

    Explore the Sea Eagle Exhibition and experience spectacular images of sea eagles, live and recorded footage, specimens and displays. These give a fascinating insight into this awe-inspiring bird and its successful re-introduction to the west of Scotland. There is also an audio-visual show giving a dramatic bird’s eye view of some of Skye’s breath-taking landscapes.

    With plenty of musical, audiovisual and storytelling events, Aros has a fantastic, diverse mixture of activities to involve all ages and interests.

    Road Directions

    Once you cross the Skye Bridge continue north on the A87 road to Portree. The Aros Centre is the first building on the left hand side just before you reach the 30mph speed limit outside Portree.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre:- After leaving the Portree Tourist Information Centre take the A87 road south, signposted for the Skye Bridge. The Aros Centre is the last building as you leave Portree.

    Getting there by railway:- The nearest railway station is at Kyle, beside the Skye Bridge. Once you cross the Skye Bridge continue north on the A87 road to Portree. The Aros Centre is the first building on the left hand side just before you reach the 30mph speed limit outside Portree. Allow 45 minutes.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- From Inverness Airport follow join the A96 towards Inverness to the west. Through Inverness follow signs for the A82 which will take you to the A87 at GlenMoriston. Follow signs for Skye Bridge, Kyle of Lochalsh and, after having crossed the Skye Bridge, for Portree. Allow three hours. Once you reach Portree the Aros Centre is the first building on the left hand side just before you reach the 30mph speed limit outside Portree.

    Getting there by ferry:- The ferry runs from Mallaig to Armadale. Once you reach Armadale head north on the A851 to join the A87 at Broadford. Continue north following signs for Portree. Once you reach Portree the Aros Centre is the first building on the left hand side just before you reach the 30mph speed limit outside Portree.
