    Dedicated to the lives and work of Scotland's great literary figures, in particular Robert Burns (1759-1796); Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832); and Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894).

    Contemporary Scottish authors are also represented in the museum's programme of temporary exhibitions.

    Getting there by railway:- From Waverley Railway Station, take the Waverley Bridge exit and head south across the bridge and mini roundabout into Cockburn Street. Make your way uphill to the junction of Cockburn Street with the Royal Mile. Turn right and head for Edinburgh Castle. Lady Stair's Close is on your right.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- From Edinburgh Airport take the airport bus to its terminus on Waverley Bridge. On leaving the bus head south across the bridge and mini roundabout into Cockburn Street. Make your way uphill to the junction of Cockburn Street with the Royal Mile. Turn right and head for Edinburgh Castle. Lady Stair's Close is on your right.
