Garbh Eilean Wildlife Hide

    Situated on a rocky knoll on the shore of Loch Sunart, this beautiful, peaceful hide offers some great views over the neighbouring waters.

    The place is recognised for its wildlife and visitors have a good chance of seeing otters, pine martens, or golden and white-tailed eagles.

    There are two islands in the loch and the hide has been named after the larger one, Garbh Eilean (Gaelic for Rough Island), where common seals can often be spotted on the rocky shore.

    The hide has been built from mostly locally grown and processed wood.

    Road Directions

    From Strontian, head west for approximately eight miles on the A861. The car park has advance warning signs from both directions.
