Kilmalcolm is a village on the north slope of the Gryffe Valley, some 15 miles west of Glasgow.
Kilmalcolm once had a thriving cotton industry and in the late 19th century became something of a holiday resort. The village shows a variety of architectural styles and ‘Windyhill’ is one of only two residential houses wholly designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The ruins of 13th century Duchal Castle lie outside the village. Glen Moss Wildlife Reserve in Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
