West Affric

Hills & Mountains

West Affric is part of the Glen Affric National Scenic Area, a vast area of wild land that gives visitors a sense of being off the beaten track.

The landscape is dominated by habitat types of European significance and these support a number of important upland and moorland species such as the black throated diver, golden eagle and red deer.

Glen Affric offers facilities at the most remote youth hostel in the UK, where you can find rustic accommodation amidst a wild and rugged landscape.

The walk into West Affric from the eastern end of the Glen offers unsurpassed views of autumn colour amongst the Caledonian pine.

Glen Affric was traditionally an important route from west to east with the original drover's road passing through West Affric.
