Described as one of Europe’s finest adventure playgrounds, Perthshire boasts a vast range of unusual and exhilarating outdoor activities on land, water and in the air to satisfy even the most daring thrill-seeker. There are also lots of activities suitable for beginners with enthusiastic and experienced instructors on hand to showing you the ropes.

If you’re looking for adventure, get some friends together and book a gorge walking or canyoning session and spend the day sliding down wet slabs of rock, gorges and waterfalls into deep pools. Or, if you prefer, try sphereing (also known as zorbing) and tumble at great speed down a hillside in a 12-foot inflatable ball.

Take to the skies and get a bird’s eye view of the breathtaking Perthshire countryside in a two-seater microlight. Similar to paragliding but engine powered and accompanied by a qualified instructor, it allows you to enjoy spectacular views as far as the Grampian Mountains, Glenshee and the Fife coast.

Those with nerves of steel and an unquenchable thirst for new experiences should try rap running. This is similar to abseiling except facing forwards, meaning you will look like you are running down a cliff.

If that doesn't get your heart racing, experience the incredible sensation of free falling through the air with a bungee jump. Take a leap from a platform suspended above the dramatic pass of Killiecrankie with the stunning River Garry flowing beneath. They also offer the opportunity to try a night time bungee jump.
