With so many sporting opportunities and experiences to try - why not use the following suggestions to help select what activities in Fife are right for you?
Fife may be The Home of Golf, but the great game is by no means the only sport available to those visiting the region.
One of the best ways to experience Fife’s coastline, including quaint fishing villages, majestic forests, rolling countryside and history is along the Fife Coastal Path. This 115 mile trail stretches from the Forth Estuary in the south, to the Tay Estuary in the north.
The striking seascapes along the way include many beautiful sandy beaches, perfect for lazing around in the summer months or an afternoon stroll in the winter. Why not spend the week exploring the whole path or select a specific section to complete in a day?
By far one of the most rewarding ways to explore the Kingdom of Fife is by bicycle. Either bring your own or hire one to take advantage of over 300 miles of dedicated cycle paths. Cycle along disused railway paths and tranquil country lanes and go through magnificent forests and historic towns in one of the country’s most comprehensive route systems.
Alternatively, get out onto the water in and around Fife. Kayaking and canoeing courses let you spend the day exploring the lochs and rivers around the East Neuk, while Elie Watersports offer a number of water-based activities. These include water skiing, wakeboarding, pedal boating or trips around the sandy curve of Elie Bay on the six-man banana inflatable ride!
Make the most of Fife’s coastline with Blown Away Experiences, who offer a wide range of beach-based activities that include land yachting, kayaking and beach olympics.
The region is also home to fascinating wildlife and marine life. During the winter months, look out for wading birds such as the black-tailed godwit and during the summer dolphins and porpoises are often spotted in the Firth of Forth.
Fife’s nature reserves, which include Tentsmuir, Eden Estuary and Carlingnose Point, really show off the great outdoors of the Kingdom of Fife and boast a wealth of flora and fauna throughout the year.
For more great activities in Fife, the fantastic East Neuk Outdoors offers archery and abseiling while Knockhill Racing Circuit, Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre, lets you choose between a number of fast-paced driving experiences
