Activities in August

Scotland is the perfect yachting destination for both experienced and novice sailors. Charter your boat or learn to sail here in our unpolluted seas and lochs with spacious harbours and anchorages set against fantastic coastlines and scenery.

Most - but not all - charter companies are based on the west coast and are family-run businesses that pride themselves on the high standards of personal and friendly service they offer. They offer a wide variety of boats, commonly for a week's charter although longer and shorter (weekend) charters can also be arranged.

If you're new to sailing but want to experience Scotland's world-class maritime environment at first hand, or even if you're an experienced sailor but new to Scottish waters, why not charter a skippered vessel and let an experienced hand take the strain and do the organising, navigating and sailing? You'll have more time to relax, more time to enjoy stunning Scottish coastal scenery and spot wildlife along the way, including dolphins and whales.

Or learn to sail from professionals at Scotland’s numerous sailing schools, located in coastal and inland lochs and on islands around the country. They offer tuition in all types of vessels using a variety of tuition styles.

After a day’s great sailing along stunning coastlines, you have the freedom to spend your evenings enjoying the seclusion of a quiet anchorage. Come ashore and stroll along magnificent white beaches or enjoy some of our delicious local produce in a restaurant, pub or hotel.
