Deep Roots, Dean Castle, Glasgow & The Clyde Valley, 1 October - 31 December
As part of Homecoming Scotland 2014 Dean Castle welcomes you to learn about the history of the Boyds. The castle was their ancestral home from as far back as 1316, and this Scottish family has deep links to many key moments in Scottish history.
At 'Perthshire Amber' there will be world-class traditional music performances and fascinating heritage events. Other Arts events include Glasgow’s commemoration of Charles Rennie Mackintosh at the Creative Mackintosh Festival from 11 - 26 October and Shetland Wool Week, 7 - 13 October.
Experience the Scottish outdoors at events such as An Feis Mor - Scotland's Festival of Paddlesport which takes place in Perthshire between 25-26 October. It will feature a canoe polo tournament and pool slalom competition. Race the Castles Orienteering from 11-19 October will see navigational challenges in the cities of Edinburgh, Stirling and the forests of Royal Deeside.
Don’t miss a highlight of 'Generation: 25 years of Contemporary Art in Scotland' in the Highlands: the 3 films and 1 text-based work ‘Artist Rooms’ by former Turner Prize winner Douglas Gordon from Glasgow will be used to explore the ambiguities of human life in this exhibition (until 11 October).
