    Mountain biking on Cheviot, Glentress, Minch Moor Newcastleton and Yair Forest trails. Simply bike from the house.

    Golfers may try numerous (22) challenging but uncrowded courses nearby and for the more ambitious Minto, Torwoodlee, Hirsel and The Roxburghe 18 hole championship course.

    Fly fishing on River Tweed or River Teviot for salmon and trout, sea fishing off Berwick.  Local loch fishing.

    Game or Clay Pigeon shooting is available.  Deer Stalking.

    Ice skating and curling on Kelso Ice Rink. River and pool swimming.

    Historians will find superb abbeys, castles and stately homes close by, also in town libraries and museums. National Trust properties.

    Scotland Gardens Scheme.  Botanic gadens Dawyck and Edinburgh

    Horse riding enthusiasts may attend fortnightly Kelso races in winter season and Common Riding Festivals in every town in summer.

    Riding Centres will give lessons and hire out horses and ponies.

    Border rugby have fixtures in each town, famous Rugby Sevens in April and May.

    Restaurants and pubs within 4 - 7 miles.

    Shopping 4 - 9 miles.

    From Newcastle upon Tyne take A1 north then A68 north to Jedburgh, 3 miles north take a right on A698 towards Kelso.then Morebattle to Hownam. (total ca 1.5 hrs)

    From London M1/A1 to A68 north -  (approx 6hrs )


    From Edinburgh and points north, take Edinburgh bypass south and then A68 south to 3 miles before Jedburgh. Left onto A698; Then Morebattle to Hownam. (total ca 1hr 40 mins)


    A car is essential for Glebe House but you can meet others at public transport terminals

    Trains- East Coast Line operates from London every hour, takes 3.5hrs to Berwick-on-Tweed, & 4.5 to Edinburgh.

    From Edinburgh  leave Edinburgh by following signs Ring Road South to Jedburgh A68. A698 to Kelso then Rt to Morebsttle

    Ferries: from Scandinavia; to Newcastle upon Tyne take A1 north then A68 north to Jedburgh, 3 miles north take a right on A698 to Kelso.
