Spacious Apartment Royal Mile - Holyrood Palace for 5.

Self Catering

Abbeyhill Crescent, Edinburgh, Midlothian, EH8 8DZ

Welcome to a spacious, recently refurbished apartment in the historic centre of Edinburgh. You can easily walk to all of Edinburgh's major tourist attractions whilst enjoying the 'park in the city' of Holyrood.

This beautifully presented city centre apartment sits opposite the Queens Residence at the Palace of Holyroodhouse at the foot of the Royal Mile, and only a few metres from Scotlands controversial Parliament Building. It is on the 3rd and 4th floors of a block housing 4 flats, surrounded by shared gardens.

The setting could not be more central but it is set back from the road so suffers no excessive noise – even when Her Majesty fires the cannons. Almost impossibly, for its location, you have your own parking. A short walk places you at the heart of 1200 years of Scottish History (most of it gory). A few more minutes will take you to all the commercial, cultural and social centres. Waverley Railway Station is within 0.5 miles, and the apartment is situated on the route taken by all the major City Bus Tours.

The flat lies in a quiet Crescent just off the Royal Mile which is the ancient route between Castle and Royal Palace. There are views of the Scottish Parliament building and of the breathtaking and infamous Salisbury Crags on Arthurs Seat - an extinct volcano in the City. With many tourist attractions within just a mile of the apartment it makes it an ideal location for exploring the City on foot.

The flat is presented in an elegant but modern fashion…..a new, fully fitted and equipped kitchen with dining for up to 6 people, tiled bathroom with bath and shower, bright living room, comfortably furnished and equipped with multi channel TV, DVD, mobile Broadband and IPod Docking Station. A selection of books and DVD's is available.

The kitchen is fully equipped and also offers, a washing machine, dishwasher, Tassimo Coffee Machine, Gas Stove, Electric Oven, Fridge and Microwave.

Upstairs there is a large, comfortable and beautifully furnished double bedroom, with tasteful linen, towels and plenty of storage space await your arrival. The second bedroom can be made up as a twin bedroom with two single beds or as a double (super-king size). The bedrooms have brand new carpets and have been refurbished with new beds and all linen and towels are provided. There is an additional bed in the living room, from the large footstool - which will convert to another single bed.

The apartment would suit many different people who want to make the most of their visit to Edinburgh without lots of travelling in to the town centre. The apartment benefits from secure parking which is free of charge to our guests. Please bear in the mind there are steps up to the apartment and also stairs within the apartment.

The apartment is within walking distance of bus stops to many areas of Edinburgh including, Leith (for The Royal Yacht Britannia), The Zoo, and Murrayfield, the home of Scotlands Rugby.

We would be delighted to accommodate families and we are able to provide any of the following items: high chair, travel cot, blankets, childrens plates/cups/cutlery, buggy and some toys. Please request these items at no extra cost.

A welcome pack is provided for our guests - including tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter and a little extra something such as Haggis or another treat - as well as biscuits for a well deserved break after your journey or hard days sight seeing.

Our check- in / check-out days are flexible and we are happy to accept bookings starting on any day in the week. To confirm availability please contact Jacqui or David.

    Road Directions

Abbeyhill Crescent is a small estate just off the bottom of the Royal Mile. For a central location the street itself is very quiet. Residents benefit from a gated car park - unusual for its location. The shared gardens are well looked after. The Crescent is well served by buses. The local bus number 35 runs between the airport, to the West of the City and the Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith to the East. Major bus tour companies have stops at either side of the street - making sure you can pack as much as possible into your break in Edinburgh.

    Public Transport Directions

Edinburgh Airport is to be found the West of the city. There is an airport bus that will take you to Waverley Station. This is a large blue bus and is the most direct bus route to the city centre. From there the apartment is just over a half mile walk or a short taxi journey. The number 35 bus (LRT) runs from the airport to the end of the street. The fare for this bus is a flat £1.40 single. Correct change is needed on all Edinburgh buses. A taxi from the airport to the Apartment will cost between £25-£30.

Waverley Train Station, the main Edinburgh station, is 0.5 miles from the apartment. If you are arriving by train, leave the station at the entrace nearest the Left Luggage deposit. Head up the stairs ahead of the Left Luggage. Then at the bottom of the stairs over the bridge, turn right. Walk straight down this road and at the bottom of the road, opposite the Palace of Holyrood House you will find a left turn into Abbeyhill Crescent. Walk through the crescent past the first car park and our apartment is suituated in the building next to the second car park.

If you are arriving by car we will give you direction specific to the direction you are travelling from as there are many different routes in to the crescent. These can also be subject to change depending on time of year and if there are events on.
