Rhiconich

Towns & Villages

The remote hamlet of Rhiconich is located at the head of Loch Inchard in the rugged and beautiful Sutherland region in the North Highlands.

The village is a perfect relaxing getaway from city life as it boasts natural surroundings like the impressive peaks of Arkle and Foinhaven and the beautiful Loch Inchard. Those looking for an active holiday will find this place a paradise as there are miles of coastal, hill and moor walks as well as mountain treks such as into the Glendhu Forest giving a taste of a unique ancient landscape and unparalleled scenery.

The sparsely populated land provides a great environment for spectacular Highland wildlife and birds as they make homes in its heathers, rocks and sandy terrain. Otters and grey herons, although well camouflaged against the rocky shoreline, can often be spotted along the rocky banks of Loch Inchard, and other species such as goosanders, mergansers or eiders nestle in the neighbouring area. In the surrounding mountains there are herds of the incredible and native red deer running freely and seals are a regular sight at the nearby fishing port of Kinlochbervie.
