    Chelsea Cottage is situated in the picturesque conservation village of Kirk Yetholm, near Kelso in the Scottish Borders.

    This charming terraced cottage provides a relaxing, comfortable and well-equipped base for exploring the surrounding countryside. The village lies in the valley of the Bowmont Water in beautiful scenery at the foot of the Cheviot Hills. Visit the traditional market town of nearby Kelso, fish on the river Tweed or walk sections of the famous St Cuthbert's Way and Pennine Way. Short breaks are very welcome and if you decide on a last minute break, we are happy to accept late bookings.

    Chelsea Cottage has been completely refurbished, this year, to enhance the traditional character of the cottage and to provide everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. There is a new kitchen, although if you don't feel like cooking, the old coaching inn in the village serves excellent food. The lounge has a wood-burning stove and comfortable sofas to relax on, either reading our selection of books, listening to music on the music system, or watching one of our selection of DVDs.

    There is sheltered patio area with garden furniture. Steps lead up to a secluded garden with lawn, rose bed and rockery. A pleasant arbour with timber pergola and climbing roses backs onto Staerough Hill, part of the "Halterburn Horseshoe" walk.
    Chelsea Cottage has the charm of a traditional cottage, but with all modern comforts, including washing machine/ dryer, dishwasher and ceramic hob/ double oven. The lounge is inviting - perfect for relaxing in, with a selection of books, DVDs/ videos (including ones for the children), games and toys. A wide range of local information is provided in the cottage for you to browse. If you have any particular interests, then we can provide more detailed local information on request.

    Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms - the master bedroom has a king-size bed and plenty of room for a cot, which can be provided on request; the second bedroom can either be made up as a king-size bed or as 2 small singles - perfect for a family. The bathroom has a traditional claw-foot bath - ideal after a hard day's walking. There is an electric shower over the bath. A new oil-fired central heating system has just been fitted, which will keep you cosy even in the depth's of winter - all fuel is included in the price, as is all linen and towels.
    Tesco Direct provide an excellent service in the area - why not have them deliver an order for your arrival? A welcome tray is provided with a selection of tea, coffee, biscuits and milk. Dogs are welcome, although we request that they remain in the downstairs area and are kept off the furniture. Even the most energetic dog can be tired out in the Cheviot hills!

    The Scottish Borders is rich in history and provides a wide range of sporting activities. Whether you enjoy walking, fishing, golfing, horse riding, cycling or just visiting one of the local pubs for a quiet pint, you will be impressed by the friendly hospitality that awaits you in the twin villages of Kirk Yetholm and Town Yetholm.

    At the far side of the village green from Chelsea Cottage is a historic coaching inn (The Border Hotel) that provides bar or restaurant meals. Both children and dogs are welcomed here. In Town Yetholm, there is a pub, village shop, post office, award-winning butcher and garage, a pleasant walk across the bridge over the Bowmant, less than one-mile away from the cottage.
    The closest town is Kelso, ~ 7 miles away. This charming old market town has many interesting sites to explore, including the Abbey, Floors Castle and a variety of shops. There is a range of eating places here as well as a swimming pool and the famous Kelso Racecourse The town lies on the banks of the River Tweed with excellent trout and salmon fishing. Fishing permits can be obtained from Tweedside Tackle, in Kelso where you can also hire rods and equipment. There are many golf courses in the area for all levels of ability. Horse riding or cycle hire can be arranged.

    Most of the border towns are less than 45 minutes' drive away, with Abbeys, museums and shops to explore in Jedburgh, Melrose, Galashiels and Coldstream. The Northumberland town of Wooler is 13 miles to the east, and Berwick-upon-Tweed and Holy Island make a superb day's outing. The village is ~ an hour from either Edinburgh or Newcastle.
